The Juniper Tree Idea

Haven't posted here a lot, and when I did not much of illustration was going on but I have been inspired by the books that William Morris made.. and have been looking back at the idea of illustrating the Grimm's fairytale, "The Juniper Tree." Here are some first sketches made for the character, Marlene that appears in the book.

More to come later... I hope.

Happy V-day!

Showing public view of affection in Japan is rare, I think even amongst youngens, but on this particular subway, boy and girl were holding hands...

something cool that I bought

Something cool that I bought in Tokyu Hands a little bit ago. It is a measuring cup shaped like a Russian matryoshka. There are three in total and each one (top and bottom) is for different amount. Personally, I would have loved it even more if it was made in ceramic, but it would be too heavy and breakable, so it is made in plastic. Right now I do not use it but it s lovely! Go here for more information on the matryoshka: http://www.worldwidefred.com/m-cups.htm

1 cup = 240ml
3/4 cup = 180ml
2/3 cup = 160ml
1/2 cup = 120ml
1/3 cup = 80ml
1/4 cup = 60ml
